  • Antistress– Duloxetine (Cymbalta) and Milnacipran (Savella) are used to reduce anxiety and improve your sleeping quality.
  • Antiseizure Medicines–  Pregabalin (Lyrica) and Gabapentin (Neurontin) are used to treat fibromyalgia pain and nerve pain.

If you don’t want to take these medicines then you can use these alternative therapies, Such as Body massage, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acupuncture, Swimming, and Thai Chi.

  • Make Changes in Sleeping Habits: If you have made some changes in sleeping habits then you can improve your sleeping power. You can change these habits such as,
  • Avoid taking coffee before sleep. Not watching TV, Phones, and electronic devices too long. Maintain your room temperature according to your comfort.
  • Exercise Daily: With the pain of fibromyalgia, it is difficult to exercise but you don’t have to give up. You have to start with slow exercises like aerobics, swimming, or walking for a short time. If you do this regularly then you have to increase your workout hour and intensity of workout. You can join an exercise class and consult a physical therapist for your individual exercise.
  • Reduce your Stress: Fibromyalgia can also be treated by reducing your stress. If you feel stress then take a deep breath and slowly release it. Meditation also helps to reduce stress. Whenever you feel stressed you have take rest.

Diagnosis Of Fibromyalgia

Fibromyalgia is a long-lasting health condition that causes musculoskeletal pain, aches, and fatigue in your body. There is no single test are available to diagnose fibromyalgia. It is difficult to diagnose for the doctor but doctors ask you about the medical history of your family (including any family history of fibromyalgia), Such as HIV, AIDS, Lupus, and thyroid disease. 

  • Doctor Check your Physical Examination to look for any medical conditions Such as Redness, swelling, and tenderness.
  • The doctor asks you for these tests Such as Blood tests, Imaging tests, Nerve condition studies, and electromyography.
  • There is a diagnosis criteria which is developed by the American College of Rheumatology for fibromyalgia. 
  • Musculoskeletal Pain for at least 3 months.
  • Tenderness in at least 11 out of 18 specific tender points.

Present Condition of Fibromyalgia

Researchers are still working on it to find the exact treatment for fibromyalgia. They are working to develop more effective medicines. Some latest Research such as comparing the brain image of different people to diagnosis, developing new drugs to relieve from pain of fibromyalgia, they are also exploring the non-drug therapies (Yoga, Thai Chi, and Acupuncture).
